The Artist
As an artist deeply entrenched in the tradition of realism, I'm inspired by the timeless works of masters such as Rembrandt and Dürer. Based in the serene surroundings of Clifton Park in Saratoga County, my artistry seeks to capture the essence of life through a lens that emphasizes comfort, relaxation, and aspiration. My work is an exploration of the quiet moments that define our human experience, rendered with a meticulous attention to detail that pays homage to the great Realists who came before me.
In my artistic practice, I strive to create pieces that resonate with viewers on an emotional level, offering a visual sanctuary where the complexities of life are distilled into the simplicity of form and light. Each piece is a reflection of my pursuit to capture the beauty inherent in the everyday — transforming the ordinary into an aspirational vision of tranquility and introspection.
Through my work, I aim to evoke a sense of peace and aspiration, inviting viewers into the intricacies of my compositions. Why I Paint
I spent 25 years in Law Enforcement. I needed something to help me deal with the stress of work. So I started painting. When I retired I decided I wanted to devote my energies to my art — to create pieces that helped others escape the stress of daily life as well. Even if just for a short time.

Tim offers oil painting classes at his Clifton Park studio by appointment. All skill levels welcome — from complete beginners to those looking to refine technique. Classes are personal, patient, and hands-on.

My wife and I were looking for a piece of artwork that could fill an empty wall. As much as a photo of a city skyline may seem cliché, we felt a painting of one was more to our taste. I approached Tim knowing this was out of his comfort zone and expertise. But, also knowing Tim, I knew he would be up to the challenge. And frankly, he did not disappoint. Our skyline is the center of our great room and a talking point at that.
Having done a couple paintings for me, I was forever taken aback when he presented to me my most prized painting — a memorial he completed in honor of my fallen K9 partner. As much as I can't get over the beauty of the skyline, the creativity, the meticulous attention to detail and honestly the kindness to create a memorial for my partner is hands down in my opinion the greatest painting Tim has or ever will do.

I've known Tim Dobert for about 15 yrs. He not only trained me in my last job career but I signed up for an art class after watching him create beautiful Works of Art and showing his creations on Facebook. He is a wonderful teacher and trainer. If you are looking to learn how to work with paints and create your own masterpieces, Tim will explain and show you different techniques and ways to make your Art do what you want it to. I enjoyed taking his class and look forward to working with him again in the future.
We had Tim paint two portraits of our daughters with our dogs. Both came out awesome. I gave Tim two pictures and told him what I wanted and it came out just how I wanted it. I will definitely send more pictures in the future for Tim to work on.
Bespoke Artwork
Tim accepts a small number of commissions each year. Every piece is painted in oils on canvas, crafted specifically for you, your space, and your vision.
Tim begins every commission with a conversation. You share your vision — subject, feeling, space — and he translates it into a composition. You'll receive progress updates and can refine before completion.
Most commissions are completed within 6–10 weeks depending on size and complexity. Rush timelines may be accommodated — please mention in your inquiry.
Original oil on canvas, signed and varnished. Available framed or unframed. Certificate of authenticity included with every commissioned work.
Tim accepts limited commissions to ensure each receives full attention. Contact early to discuss your project and confirm availability for your timeline.
